Much information on cooking oil on www.kelseyville.com, and there was an extensive discussion on the antique Cat board not long ago, www.acmoc.org.
The biggest problem seems to come in refining the crap out, a fairly simple process, and lubrication. Plenty of information available on the web.
Back during the last contrived oil shortage we had a guy around here running a VW Rabbit on used cooking oil from McDonalds. Ran well, but it made you hungry for Micky d's frenchfiys when it drove past.
