When our splitter was new (built it 30 or 35 years ago), I used a header control cable from a Gleaner combine to work the lever.........had 2 different connections for early and late model 20 series Deeres. Took several minutes to hook the thing up..........trying to get small pins and hair pins in places you couldn't see. Nothing wrong with the way it worked but I eventually got an old Gresen valve box out of the junk pile and mounted it; now just plug in the hoses. As Bob said, just make sure it's a closed center valve (on the Gresen, you can just change the end plate for open/closed center).
