I know you were serious, that's why I said what I did since I'm one of those that has spent time in the military and seen how the typical government run healthcare system is handled. Personally I went for over 6 years needing my wisdom teeth taken out and didn't wind up getting it done until after I got out. Getting them taken out was part of my 'discharge requirements'ince it was in my records that it needed to be done they had to do it. Instead of having it taken care of by a military dentist they then had to pay for a civilian dentist to do it. So, 6 plus years to get something done and then extra tax dollars spent to do it, Yeah, I'd say they really knew how to do things in a timely and cost efficient manner. But that was just my experience. I wish I could remember some of the others I heard about during my time in.
I'll agree, good medical treatment is good medical treatment no matter whether it comes from the government or from a doctor in private practice. That isn't the issue with Government run healthcare. The issue is with the incompetence of the government to run any program with any kind of managable budget. Or simply take my one experience and magnify it several million times. Thankfully my experience wasn't an emergency proceedure, but what happens when it is an emergency and the government funds aren't available to cover it?
Too the way these guys talk it's only going to cost x amount but we all know in the end it's gonna cost XXXXXX amount to provide the services they want to provide. By the time this whole mess gets out to the public at large and there are cutbacks, etc to keep "the public" happy with the costs and senator Y in office then what? You know as well as I do that cutbacks will mean lack of care, plain and simple.
