I have my three trained to stand at the gate and wait for Dixie or I to feed them twice a day and to throw a fit if we are a bit late. Actually I think they are on par with the large horse as intelligence goes. They really want to please you once they start to have confidence in you. They react different to me than Dixie. When she goes in to feed they push on her. When I feed and they start to push I say step over and they do. The tennis shoes is for traction. Without them the hooves are slippery on wood or tile floors.
