your valve connection is hooked into the 3 point lift system. You may have a valve on top of the transmission that has to be opened. some of them worked by sliding in and out, others by turning the stem. The stems that slide could be broken off. 1 hookup cylinder to hose. 2 lower lift arms all the way down. 3 open valve (on top transmission under the front edge of seat) 4 use lift lever to operate cylinder. I have seen hoses hooked into the pressure port without a valve. If this is done then when your lift arms get all the way up the oil flow will stop and your cylinder will cease to operate as well.
