Long term, several middle eastern countries are on the brink of a major cash crunch and if demand does not go back up fairly soon some or all will forget their OPEC agreements and put more product on the market. The deepwater developments that are being made and will continue to be made are expensive to drill and produce but create a lot of jobs and downstream business. Domestically drilled and produced natural gas could easily replace a substantial percentage of the oil needed for heating, power generation etc. while creating even more high paying jobs in the USA, it won't happen unless and untill the federal gov't puts Americas interests first and quit hindering or outright blocking new attempts to develop our own resources.
