You guys have to remember the oil companies don�t set the price of a barrel of crude, that is established by the market. The way its done today is speculators buy a load of crude and hope the demand goes up so they can sell it at a profit. Today that load of crude may pass through the hands of 3 or 4 speculators who are all trying to drive the price up to support their position. The refinery buys it at the market price. A Shell refinery doesn�t get his crude from a Shell oil field. He buys it on the open market at the best price he can get to keep the refinery running. The refineries operate on very small margins and make little money. Many games are played. Unfortunately we are the ones who pay the penalty.
