The problem is not the 6 volt system, but the generator/regulator charging system. These tractors were built to run all day in the field at full throttle which allows plenty of time for low output generator system to fully recharge the battery. Now days we often start the tractor and run it for short periods of time at less than full throttle. Each start draws more from the battery than is replaced by the charging system. When a battery is not kept fully charged, it will sulfate and fail. In my opinion there are two solutions. 1) Use a charger to fully recharge the battery each time the tractor goes back in the shed. 2) Convert to a 12 volt alternator system. The alternator has a much higher output and will provide much quicker battery recovery. K-Mo
