Quit worring about it just keep the terminals clean and distilled water in the cells. I know of a vouple running around no changes to the system just maintain like any other battery. 8V batts have been around a while as i remember people using them in a 47 Chevy so they would start when it gets belwo zero. The practice was common in the time rite after WW11 even tractors used them.
