Farmall Cub Motor

Pulled the head off my Cub today to start a rebuild job. Each piston has a number stamped in it. #1 piston has a "1", #2 has a "2", #3 has a "3" and #4 has a "4". Plus #1 and #2 piston has a "B" stamped in the top and #3 and #4 has a "C" stamped in the top.
On the top righht side of the block #1 and #2 cylinder has a "B" stamped in it and #3 and #4 cylinder has a "C" stamped in it.
The tractor is a 1948 model, serial #317xx, I have the funniest feeling that it has been bored out and the #'s on the top of the pistons correspond to the boring size of the cylinders but can't figure out what the "B" and "C" mean.
