I recently bought a 7700 ford. I do believe it is a 76 model. It came with a 540 pto and it has about 1/8" play in and out on the pto shaft. No sideways play at all. Is this normal, I know it has been used a lot. I bought this tractor to bushhog with. Only other tractor I have had any dealings with is a 3000 ford. The pto shaft is not interchangeable on it and it has no play in it. I thought about making a shim to take the slack up in the pto if need be. It might suppose to have play in it. Don't have another tractor to compare pto shaft to. Haven't used it much, it has been to wet to do anything here.
