First of all thank you for your help it is much appreciated and secondly I have a 72 year old brother-in-law that "insists" on using what he already has. I used a 3 wire alternator with a jumper wire on my Ford tractor because I liked the idea of my battery being charged as soon as the motor starting running. Alas, he has a mind of his own and it can't be changed. The coil "is" true with an internal resistor so I don't need the "something else". Again, thank you!!
