I don't know how radioactive it is but I do know if you show up at the local scrap yards they check every load with a geiger counter and there is a 2' chunk of 2" on the bottom of the pile of stuff on the trailer it will set it off. On the flip side so will a household microwave. Never the less they won't let you unload.
This is no way scientific but my grandfather worked for 40 years as an oil well pumper. Other than a few that got cought by jealus husbands, him and every one he worked with years ago have now died of some form of cancer.
