As a former Police Officer in Toronto Canada, I would say that temperament and conscience must be both in good shape. As a person with disceretioary powers, one must understand that prevention is your first duty, to redirect someone on the right road in life far exceeds apprehensio and prosecution. Our Police must be impartial controllers of misdeeds through their methods and dictates. This is and will continue to be a challenge as our society is not likely to reverse into the law-abiding mainstay I knew as a kid in Toronto.
