A friend of mine is a cop for the local sheriff dept. He is now 47 and has been a cop for 20+ years. I think he became one when he was 25 or so. He works some real crappy hours, as you would guess cause the bad guys dont work 8-5. He was a detective for a few years and didnt like that cause he would get calls at any hour of the day or night for domestic violence, child beating, and so on. He also carries a firearm where ever he goes......Always. Be prepared to be a cop off the clock too. I would consider being a cop if I had to start a career at 20 years old, but......I am 40 now.
