I purchased a brand new 1994 Chevy 4x4 in the fall of 1993.It was equipped with a 350 cid engine that called for 5w30 motor oil.As soon as the weather got cold that winter you could hear a main bearing rattle for a couple of seconds at the first startup of the day.I dropped the 5w30 oil out and started using 10w30 and never heard the noise again.It had 213.000 on it when i sold it.I've never used 5w30 in anything since.
