I dunno. I think on balance they're generally quite good, but sometimes you get a dud too. Neighbours had an 88 I think... and put somethign like 500 KM on it without a wrench ever on the engine. Thought is was so great that tehy bought a 98 just like it. I think it's on engine number 3 or 4 right now and that just locked the other day on them... Dome gaskets seem to be the killer on this particular one... I don't know if that's a widespread thign or just how they use it, but I know they're quite sick of it now. This one does see a lot of start and go driving. never gets warm, etc. That is a killer... Might want to check the database with GM and see what's been done to it over the years if the neighbour doesn't remember or hasn't owned it all along...
