Hello. I have an old PowerKing economy tractor with a points driven Kholer engine. Ran well but somehow the wiring harness got cooked. No fuse was in the system and went to start it yesterday and most of the wires insulation were melted. It woud actually start if the exposed parts of the wires were not touching. So I re-wired according to the diagram and and now it will only start if the plug from coil wire is slightly removed from the coil. It will run when the spark jumps but actually connect they metal contacts and spark grounds out.
All the wires are now good. I kept the original key switch, points, starter relay, coil and condenser all in place. I am guessing the coil is somehow the problem butany advice on what it may or may not be would be super. Its is basciacy a simple points ign system. Thanks
