Back to my days as a parts man for a White dealer. The 2-150 was probably same as early 2-135 and 2-155. The fuel is pulled from the top tank to the pump. A non-vented cap is used on the top tank to create a vacuum so the fuel will be drawn up from the bottom tank. The bottom tank uses a vented cap so as not to create a vacuum in the bottom tank and allow system to vent. There is a check valve in the line connecting the two tanks to keep fuel from all running into the bottom tank and out the vented fuel cap. As long as you have the proper caps on the proper tanks, the check valve is working properly, and everything is in order the system works just fine. If John Deere had used this system everyone would think it was just wonderful.
