First disassemble the pump to see if it"s worth investing in a kit, or parts. Most hydraulic pumps wear out from use, or abrasive particles in the oil..which leads to the first question--how good is your filtration? Do you have a 10 micron spin on or cannister filter?, how often was it changed? If you have an aluminum pump with bronze bushings natural bushing wear will eventully allow the gears to untercut the case and create a path for oil to bypass the pumping gears, with a result of loss of pressure. Cast Iron pumps, with roller bearings cost more than aluminum pumps, but last longer---SO, Inspect first, it would be less expensive to simply replace the pump, than invest in parts for a worn out pump. I can give further detail if you advise the make and model of the pump. I have worked in the hydraulic industry for many years but never heard of a "Thompson" pump, so I feel that they sourced the pump from another manufacturer.
