Its thought to be a seed borne disease.I plant different varieties to get a spread out ripening time.I had a short row of Green Mountain potatoes that had 50% blight.Redsen and Satina were blight free in the next rows.Kennebec and Katahdin had a small amount of blight.Have not seen any smut in the corn this year.Kennebec potatoes were the best producers during a lousy garden year.
