My A starts easily if I commence with 7/8 choke, throttle advanced just enough for the carb to be slightly open, and petcocks open. Everything I just said assumes that everything about the engine, carburetor, and magneto are as they should be. Oh, and the Northern Lights have to be shining and no one watching.
