Be sure that the heating procedure is done ONLY on carburetors wih cast iron bodies. Zinc carburetors might be ruined by the heat. The reason this works to loosen the brass plugs is that brass has a coefficient of thermal expansion that is almost twice that of the cast iron. The brass expands more than the cast iron and when it cools, the brass will have compressed a bit and will be a looser fit. DO NOT try to cool the cast iron quickly. Let it cool as slowly as possible!
