I'll need a new car next year, so when the cash for clunkers came out, I thought I'd take a look for a new one.
Existing is a 2000 Chevy, 52kmiles, new Cooper tires, no mechanical problems, great flaking GM paint job (needs a total repaint,) other wise, she's a cherry one owner original miles. lol
This is a point A too point B car, nothing more.
Here's what I found:
My 10yr old car gets 15% better fuel mileage than a new car of equal. Thus no cash for clunker available here.
A new comparable model was double the cost of what I paid OTD for my 2000. With T&L, OTD about 115% more than my 2000 with no trade in, cash sale.
The cars that I was interested in, I couldn't even get a salesman too call me back for a week,
I said, too heck with it. I'll wait till the hunger returns.
