in our county there were two gas companies that always took people for a ride but didn't charge a yearly fee for a tank. another company bought them out a couple of years ago and started charging a rental fee on tanks, a 6.00 fee for sending a bill, and their customer service went to nothing. they thought they would have a monopoly, but people started buying their own tanks and a couple of other companies opened branches. their yards are full of tanks people have told them to come and get (me included) and now the slogan on their sign is "relationships matter" but you can't find anyone who will still deal with them. my uncle really p!ssed them off by telling them if he is renting the tank he'll get whoever he wants to fill it up.
