As far as auto insurance, each state has its own specific rules and each state FB company has its own automatic inclusions. What jumps out at me though is limits of coverage. In Kentucky, minimum insurance limits are 25000 per person, 50000 per accident in medical liability and 10000 in property damage. Even with higher limits if she totalled 3 cars in one accident she probably hit limits of her coverage.
Does your son have under-insured motorist coverage? I'd definitely recommend he be in contact with his carrier. As to claims, personally, I dont think that a week is too long to wait for an adjuster to look at a vehicle. Especially for an accident of this magnitude that will probably hit policy limits. The company has its responsibility to protect their insureds interests, first and foremost.
