I belonged to the Teamsters Union in the late 60"s in the Twin Cities. The union was great for the older guys, because they didn"t do a lick of work. The younger guys did all the work. Last fall I applied at a union shop in central Minnesota. The top wage was $5 less per hour than I was making as a machinist down here in Texas in a nonunion shop. I didn"t get the job. I had too much experience.

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents.
