I sure agree with Bob. Any farm tractor starters I've seen have wound electromagnetic fields versus permanent magnets, so absent any internal end to end to field coil wiring swaps or brush changes etc. theyre still gonna turn the same direction regardless of battery polarity.....To change rotation you need to reverse the electromagnetic field forces WITH RESPECT TO EACH OTHER (Field & Armature) and since a permanent magnet motor has a fixed North/South field and you essentially reverse ONLY the armature current (one of the two) if you swap battery polarity it will then reverse its direction...
