Well I think I was told the oil line going to the sement bowl was to cut the gas off if your engine was low of oil so you wouldn't ruin it,and there is a gasket there that helps do this , when it goes bad it allows the gas to run back to the crank case, I suggest asking Mr. Thinker for a 3rd opion.
