If your tractor is a 4000 4 cylinder diesel then maybe I can answer your question. I have a 971-D with the factory glow plugs. They are about the same tractor if yours is the 4 cylinder model. On the left side of my hood is a push button just like the one on the right side. The right side button is for the starter. The left one is hooked to a relay that runs to the 2 glow plugs. When you push the button you hear a click and the glow plugs come to life. If you have a pretty good battery they work real well. I think the 2 plugs pull around 60 amps so that is why they use the relay.
