I pull mine a time or two every yr. I ve never had a problem , I just use a ratchet and deepwell socket on the bottom up through the hole in the skid plate and a wrench to hold the nut . It has a locknut on it and has never losened up . The bolt is long enough to put a jam nut on it but I havent needed it . I am thinking your lock nut is bad . With a new bolt and locknut you should nt have a problem ., I d pass on the weld also .
