Motiva is expanding its Port Arthur refinery at a cost of 7bn. The expansion has a completion date of 2010 and will add 325,000bpd of refining capacity essentially doubling the size of the current refinery to more than 600,000bpd, making it the largest in the US.
Marathon is expanding its Garyville refinery at a cost of 3.2bn. The Garyville refinery can currently process 245,000 barrels of crude oil a day and the expansion will increase the capacity to 425,000 barrels a day making it the fourth largest refinery in the US.
