: : I am having trouble with my 8N.It can be hard to start, but usually will run.Lately it has a tendecy to just cut off in the middle of running.I am wondering if the timing chain is getting stretched or if it could be a carburator or distributor problem.Any suggestions on how to track it down?
: Remove hose on inlet side of carb, when the motor
: starts to die give it a little shot of starting fluid,if it picks up and
: runs better, you have a fuel system problem. Has it been
: converted from 6V to 12volt? If you are running 12v
: make sure you have a 12v coil with built in resistor
: or a resistor between the hot wire going to the coil
: and the coil.

Sounds like you are starving it of gas.Clean fuel shut off valve and small strainer in carb.Remove drain on bottom and let fuel flow through carb.for about 30 sec.Make sure you have about a 1/2 tank of gas. There is NO timing chain, just gears.Good luck,Don
