Your oil may be too heavy for the cold. Try using oil 1 grade lower. If using 30 wt use 20 wt. Basicly use what you are using in the tractor. Do not use too light an oil as it will just be sucked into the engine.
Even thou I use 30 wt in the winter due to warming oil in building before using, I do put 20 wt in the air cleaner and have had no problems.
