What part of Arkansas are you in? I'm in NE Arkansas, The only problem I've had with sowing Bermuda seed is winter freeze out. I don't know about all varieties but common need 2 years to develop a root system to hold up to our winters. I've tried Cheyenne a couple of times and haven't had it last through the 1st winter. I'm probably on the northern edge of Bermuda's range. I sprigged some Hardy Bermuda about 20 years ago that has held up fairly well and it comes out 3-4 weeks earlier than common but doesn't get as tall. I think that common is hard to beat, If you fertilize and can get the rains 3 cuttings is normal. I've got a neighbor that may get 5 this year, he's already got 3 and got 4 bales per acre each cutting (4x5 JD bales). But I've never seen a summer like this. Check with your extension agent, there may be someone locally that has had some experience.

Elliott said while this
