I guess I've turned into a grumpy old man. I used to appreciate the decades old glass packs but in general anymore any noise bothers me. I'm 62 but my hearing seems more to have improved than be failing.
What I simply cannot stand are what they call the European mufflers. Horrible sound. Also unmuffled Harleys. They actually cause ear pain when they pass while opening up their engine and I have my window down.
Best exhaust sound was on a Massey Harris 21A combine. Chrysler industrial flathead 6 with a 3 inch straight pipe clear to the top of the combine and then some.
