Went to check the old chore tractor over this afternoon (got to go and rake some hay) and as always my coolant was black, anyway i had some extra time (it was raining!) so decided to drain and flush the system (again). The radiator drain opened and drained but when i went to drain the block nothing world come out, so i removed the brass tap and still nothing (tap was cleaned inside so now it works, it was full of black dried sludge) so i poked around in the tapping into the block and discovered more dried sludge... so i broke out the air line and tried blowing air into the block... i did manage to get the water level to rise up in the rad but nothing more. So i took out the a tapped plug off the rear of the block and blew air through it, that made lots of black water exit that tapping and the rad filler but nothing out of the block drain. Anyone have any cunning ideas? I'm not sure what caused the sludge problems in the first place... but the tractor was in rough shape when we bought it... but it runs ok and doesn't use oil or water so maybe it just got filled with pond water once to often...
