Ive acquired a good quantity of shell omala 320 full synthetic oil and Im wondering if I can use it in my 2000 model Cat 416 in the hydraulic system or in the tranny...they both call for motor oil and the hyd. system has several leaks that I havnt had the $ to fix. Ive read the stuff from shell that says its great, versatile, and ideal for circulating high pressure, high temp. systems, compatible with mineral based systems seals and gaskets but they sound like its basically designed for gear boxes and Im wondering how it would do in my Cat, free is a good thing but Its not worth destroying my iron to make use of 60 gal. of synthetic oil. just looking for some opinions...thanks ..................................OCG
