We'd had the motor out of one of the Wheel Hosses in my neighbor's stable for a rebuild over the winter. Decided to paint her while she was motorless. Got all carried away, even put new decals on her. Got that honkin' 5-foot deck all in good shape, new belts all around. She was lookin' good, runnin' strong.
First opportunity he takes her out to cut grass. I heard it runnin' as soon as he kicked the blades in so poked my nose over to see how it was runnin'. He made about three rounds and all he was leavin' in the yard was tracks. The grass in between 'em looked like too-tall hay got knocked down in the hail and wind.
