Sounds like the wire from the starter to the back of the solenoid (starter relay) is the culprit. When you connect the neg cable to the battery, the starter turns and keeps turning. I do not have a 150 so I do not know the colour of the wire you are looking for, but it should be the same colour as the one coming off the starter button. I bet the wire has broken and the part that is still attached to the solenoid is still making ground. Replace the whole wire (min 16 guage) from the button switch to the corresponding post on the solenoid and you should be good to go...
