If your tractor has what some call thermostart you do NOT need or want Ether!
If you have a spot in the ignition switch where all the dash lights go out just before you turn it to the crank position, this is the thermostart position. On some tractors it is activated by turning the key to the left. Either way, all the lights go out in thermostart.Activate thermostart for approximately 30 seconds, and you will be amazed how quickly it will start.
What it does is heat up a glow plug in the intake manifold that will ignite fuel and act as a little blowtorch into the cylinders when you start the tractor. So I was told, anyway. All I know is my 4000 starts a WHOLE lot better on cold days now.
