good comments...another thing that you can do is when you are making the wedge..make the wedge about 1/2 inch longer at the top than the bottom..a slant like that will help the log push down than rise up..i have one made from 4 inch sq tubing with 3/4 x 6 flat bar on top..used 4 x 30 cyl...have it set up for jd..i made the wedge out of flat bar and a truck spring..used truck spring for the center for the hardness..used 4 in sq tu because as said below it put the splitter 5 inches off ground..you can roll big logs on it that way..it also fits the 3 point hitch..works great...have nice day
