Check the transmission screen & filter for trash. Cheapskate owners without reading the service manual tend to dump in the cheapest oil. If the oil isn't wet clutch comparable or is contaminated with water due to age. The wet brakes and clutches will deteriorate. Check the coolant, not for freeze temp but for corrosion inhibitor. And run an oil test from the crankcase. As will any wet sleeve diesel engine. If the coolant is old and expired due to lack of service. The sleeves will cavitate through and leak.
