The venturi effect of the throat causes a partial vacuum. The fuel is drawn into this partial vacuum. The vacuum (reduction in air pressure) follows the laws of physics. the temperature is reduced as pressure is reduced. It can actually freeze the need for heated intake on carb fed vehicles. JimN
