T_Bone, I've got a '98 4x4 Dodge with the Cummins and 5 spd. If I was buying a new one, I would get the H.O. package - if just for the 6 spd. The top and bottom gear ratios are the same as the 5 spd, it just splits the intermediate range an extra time. The extra torque of the H.O. option will be appreciated when you are towing - but the standard Cummins already impresses the heck outta me. The number you listed for the torque of the 5 spd is incorrect - it's either 440 or 460 ft-lbs (I forget). If you want more information than you ever wanted on the Cummins Dodge, go to www.turbodieselregister.com. Good luck with your new truck either way you decide to go - you will love it. Jason
