AS far as I know tractor carbs have always leaked a little. Ever since I was a boy (1930's)I was told to turn off the gas at the tank.EWvewn now I still do it as a regular thing. Most old tractors are updraft and sit lower that the gas tank (useing no fuel pump) and are prone to leaking. Could be fatal if gas leaked in a closed shed.. As far as gasoline being different at the same stations, it is bought on the open market from the cheapest wholesaler available. I worked for a gas retailer and we sold gasoline from almost every company available.
