It's time to move up to centerfire rifles. .17 HMR ammo is not cheap. Availability of centerfire ammo is bad right now but it will improve. With a centerfire rifle you can tailor your ammo to any situation. I load my .22-250 (typical velocity ~3500 fps) down to .22 Hornet velocities (~2000 fps) using light loads of SR4795 powder.
