Thanks for the input. That's why I made the comment about still being able to easily rotate the axle while the force was being applied through the chains and bottle jack.

If it was difficult to pivot, then, I'd have to look at catching on a step. I can still take the axle and "wobble" it while in this "press" contraption with the jack pumped up.
