My question is what is a livable wage to someone? 8/hr 10/hr 15/hr 30/hr? A person starts a business to make money for themselves. period. They dont start a business just to provide you with a job, insurance, benefits etc. In business everything is an expense and yes that includes you the employee. So naturally starting pay will be quite less then someone whos proven themselves a good worker and has been there for umpteen years.
I think some of us feel that they should be entitled to everything. A person gets hired making less then fellow employees and they are givin the chance to increase that hourly wage with good work ethic etc. Everyone has to start out at the bottom and work there way up.
My nephews frist job was at Mcdonalds making less then 5 bucks and hour, hes been there 20 years and is now making well over 25/bucks an hour, with benefits vacation etc. in management. He'll tell you, that if he started out making 15/bucks an hour as a simple cashier he would have never strived to move up and better himself within the company.
If everyone started out at a livable wage in a crummy job then what incentive do you have to better yourself and move up or onto a better job?
