The button was stuck so I oiled it and tapped it with a hammer. It didnt take much to get it back moving freely. Now it springs back and forth like it should. Well, you can see it moving about 1/8" or so, proving that its not just simply rusted together. What can I do?
Run the tractor for a while to see if it loosens the connection. Make sure the button is engaged, though. If that doesn't work, try to rig up a come-along and pull from the gearbox on the mower.
